The Neurobiology of You: Exploring the Neurobiology of Human Development in Clinical Practice

Course Overview:
This immersive 3 day workshop will explore the complex interplay between human
development, neurobiology, trauma, and attachment theory and the impact these have on clients’
mental health symptoms. Participants will learn how these factors influence both the therapeutic
relationship and teach skills for therapists to both assess and treat these symptoms. Emphasis will
be placed on understanding the neural development of each individual's nervous system and how
this affects therapeutic interventions.
You will learn to:

Understand the basics of brain development and attachment neurobiology and how it impacts your clinical work

Explore the effects of developmental and intergenerational trauma on nervous system development

Recognize interoceptive and exteroceptive cues in the therapy room

Identify and track arousal states for improved co-regulation

Apply neurobiological frameworks for deeper empathy, presence, and repair
